The Growth-for-All Movement
“There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread”,-Mahatma Gandhi
India’s economic boom is resulting in widening disparities between the haves & have-nots. All the fruits of this boom are with the haves, while the have-nots wait for God. Unless addressed, the situation is a recipe for long-term disaster.
Growth-For-All’s( GFA) mission is to create a ‘movement’; to help achieve ‘inclusive’ growth & faster socio-economic development for the have-nots of Indian society
The Growth-For-All Model:
India has a large number of NGOs focused on variety of causes. However, most are fragmented & localized in their efforts. Also, with a few exceptions, the work of many NGOs is either one-off (short-term program), or niche (e.g. focused on education only). As a result, it does not lead to integrated development of the target community.
The outcomes of most NGOs’ work are often not measurable, which leads to question-marks about their efficacy.
Growth-For-All simultaneously infuses multiple inputs (livelihood, education, health, women’s empowerment, digital divide) into a target community, to make a substantial & all-round impact. (“Integrated & Scaleable”)
Piggy-backing on the existing infrastructure of such NGOs- as well as government- and ‘integrating’/synergizing their efforts is cornerstone of GFA’s model. GFA will itself has a lean team. (“Managed Outsourcing”)
All work that GFA does is being measured & tracked against suitable metrics.. (“Metrics & Accountability”)
The large upper-middle class & Corporations do not often have a tangible, accountable & emotionally-involving way of participating; so, they stay away.
GFA engages this silent group by creating & offering avenues for involvement. (“Leveraging Individual & Corporate Social Responsibility”)
Through this blog, I’d like to keep sharing with you my encounters with some remarkable people and organizations, people who are already making a difference. Their successes will help inspire us to make this a vibrant movement.
The blog gets new postings every fortnight.
